Midt i alle problemerne omkring nedlæggelsen af problemulven i Nr. Nebel og hændelsen i Bunken i Nordjylland har nogle af mine svenske ulvevenner gjort mig opmærksom på, at der faktisk er mulighed for at kommentere på Danmarks artikel 17-indrapportering til EU.
Høringen lukker den 16. august, og man skal registrere sig for at kunne indsende kommentarer. Jeg må indrømme, at jeg havde en del problemer med at finde ud af, hvordan systemet fungerede, og hvordan de forskellige felter skulle udfyldes.
Det lykkedes dog til sidst, og jeg har nu sendt nedenstående kommentar til EU.
Jeg synes, det er vigtigt at gøre opmærksom på, hvordan de danske data er blevet til, og hvilke konsekvenser det kan have for vurderingen af ulvens bevaringsstatus i Danmark.
All of the data in the Danish Article 17 report were calculated by Danish researchers involved in the national wolf monitoring program – (Aarhus University and the Natural History Museum of Aarhus), at the request of the responsible Danish authority, the Danish Agency for Green Land Transformation and Water Environment (SGAV).
The vast majority of the data presented in the Article 17 report for the period 2019–2024 were therefore calculated and reported on the basis of professional scientific data.
However, the situation is different with regard to the data reported for Canis lupus. According to the information available, the data submitted by the Danish authorities to the European Commission concerning Canis lupus as part of the Article 17 reporting for the period 2019–2024 had been determined at ministerial level.
The result was that Denmark reported that the population size was unknown and that the Danish population was in favourable conservation status.
These figures were used despite the fact that the researchers had stated that the Danish wolf population numbered 49 individuals and that the wolf population was in strongly unfavourable conservation status.
It is not in accordance with the applicable rules to report politically motivated data, and this is highly problematic.
